Middlesboro Independent Schools - Where Everyone Matters

Welcome to the official website of Middlesboro Independent School District, where our guiding principle is embodied in the motto: 'Everyone Matters.' At Middlesboro Independent, every decision we make is driven by our unwavering commitment to the success and well-being of our students.

Our district comprises four institutions: Middlesboro Elementary School (pre-K – 4th grade), Middlesboro Middle School (5th grade – 8th grade), Middlesboro High School (9th grade – 12th grade), and Middlesboro Alternative School (5th grade – 12th grade). Additionally, our high school students have the valuable opportunity to access the resources of the Bell County Career and Technical Center and Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College. Despite our district's considerable reach, we take pride in cultivating an intimate learning environment where every student is known and celebrated as an indispensable member of our school family.

The mission of Middlesboro Independent Schools is to foster 'a relentless dedication to motivate and inspire student success.' To achieve this mission, we are committed to:

  • Providing a comprehensive STEAM-focused curriculum that encompasses standards-based visual and performing arts, health and physical education, science, social studies, career technical education, cultural studies, world languages, essential skills, extracurricular activities, and athletic opportunities.

  • Ensuring equitable access to gifted and talented services and rigorous coursework so every student can reach their full potential.

Our schools are enriched by dedicated professionals, including school-based counselors, mental health service providers, on-site nurses, librarian/media specialists, family resource/youth service centers, a diverse support staff, and highly qualified educators.
