Principal's Message

Welcome to Middlesboro High School!

MHS has a long running tradition of pride and success in academics and athletics.  Our “Yellow Jackets” have always been the educational leaders of our region.  We are proud of our heritage and excited about our future.

As principal, I pledge to our community and students that I will work with all stakeholders to cultivate a positive culture that is student focused.  I have high expectations for behavior, attitude, and success.  I believe that good behavior and a positive attitude are the keys to success.

Through a challenging learning climate that is guided by research-based instructional practices, MHS will provide a quality education, involve the school community, and promote diversity as well as cultural acceptance.  Everyone in our school is important and deserves the opportunity to reach their potential.  We will strive to keep our Yellow Jackets safe, focused, and on the road to successfully becoming college and career ready.

As our state test results prove, MHS is the only “Proficient” state ranked high school in our county.  We are also the only *Advanc-Ed accredited high school in our area.  We work diligently each day to ensure Middlesboro High School becomes not only a distinguished ranked school, but is regarded by all as one of the best high schools in our the state.

Excellence is our expectation.  We will support and challenge each student, every day to be thoroughly prepared for success in college, career, and life. We encourage our community to be involved and supportive of the educational process.  If you have ideas, questions, or concerns, please call my office.  Meanwhile, all of us at MHS will work together to create another year of student success at Middlesboro High School by embracing the attributes that begin and end with over 118 years of MHS Tradition, Pride, and Excellence.

*Advanc-Ed accreditation is earned through an internal and external analysis of school curriculum, safety, culture, climate,

and community involvement.   Advanc-Ed consists of a merger of the accreditation agencies of NCA CASI, SACS CASI,

and NWAC.  They are a globally recognized authority in the recognition of quality schools and continuous improvement.

The MISD and MHS earned official accreditation June 2015.
