Picturing A World

Principal Bill Jones with Relay for Life Window

Middlesboro Middle School participated in the Relay for Life "Paint the Town Purple" by remembering one of their own.  The theme for the window of the school depicts a Nikon camera with the words "Picture A World Cancer Free" and was chosen to honor Mrs. Jan Jones, the wife of Principal Bill Jones, who lost her battle to cancer last September.  Jan was often seen at school events and ballgames with her camera snapping pictures to capture special moments to share with parents and community members.

Inside the school, students and staff also brought in photos of family members who had been touched by cancer and a special bulletin board was created and is being displayed in the school cafeteria.

Special thanks to 7th grader Shelby Vaughn and former Art Teacher Johnanna Baker for designing and painting the windows in the front of the school and to 8th graders Morgan Lawson and Gracie Jo Miracle for working on the bulletin board.
